Buffalo leather does not have the protective coating that top grain leather straps have.

Due to its structure, buffalo leather is robust and durable. However, it is also extremely sensitive. Buffalo leather becomes shiny and greasy over time, the colour fades and it can also stain easily. This is intentional and desired for a worn look, with buffalo leather getting better over time.

Small scratches can be removed by rubbing them firmly with your fingers, as the natural oils on your hands will work into the leather.
